The Baxter family who lived in Atherstone for several hundred years have a tablet recording several generations of the family in St Peters Church, Mancetter. Can anyone help me locate resources to assist me in researching the family?
Lynne
Good Morning All,
I am researching my husbands family and have found out that they were residing in Mancetter and later Atherstone and Nuneaton warwickshire.
They were related to Silk Weavers and could have been employed in the hatting industry.
Could anyone suggest where I could look for Paul Petty born c1740 and his wife Ann Pinor born c1740 in Mancetter parish records.
I believe the Petty family originated from France originally but have come to a dead end at the moment.
All suggestions would be welcome
Karen Petty

Hello Ray Hancox,
I read your contribution to ‘Mancetter’, maybe you could assist me with my Atherstone family research ?
My Great grandfather Henry Tweed married Susan Hancox in 1900. I know that Susan was already a mother to Lillie (b.1896) and that her parents were William and Ann Hill.
Were they decendants of ‘your’ Joseph Hancox family?
Hello Karen,
Try the free website familysearch which is run by the church of the latter day saints. There is a Paul Petty born Mancetter 1731 his parents were John Petty and Anne Riley.
Hope this helps.
Regards,Ann
Hi, I am trying to trace the family of Bill Moss who lived in Atherstone in the 1920s and 1930s where he was a builder decorator and painter. He had three children, Hilda, (deseased) and twins Olive and Bill. Bill junior, was my father and he died 25 years ago. they were enthusiastic participants and members of the Atherstone Operatic Society and the town’s orchestra. Indeed my father became a porfessional musician and moved to London and then to the south coast. I’d be very grateful to hear from anyone who has any memories of this family….
yours sincerely, Penny (nee Moss)

Hi to everyone in Mancetter, I am trying to trace a friend of mine from the 90′s. his name is Don Smith and he has lived in Atherstone for many years.
I lost track of him and his children, Tristran and Charlotte, after some minor personal problem.
I would like to contact them again and re – establish an old friendship.
Don and myself went through many problems together and helped each other when times were bad and also had a great friendship from many years ago in the boating fraternity with his father Bob, many good times.
If anyone can find him and let him know that I would like to contact him again, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the chance to find him. Ray Bradbury
